Lament (Of Love and Old Regrets)

I was listening to my iPod in the car a few days ago and came across this song I wrote back in spring of 2005. It was originally meant to be on an album called Of Hope and Desolation…, but I eventually abandoned the project for a variety of reasons. Still, there were a couple of good songs written, and this was one of them. In fact, it’s one of the few songs from that time in my life that I still like. It’s from my “rawktronica” phase, which I may soon revisit in some way.

By the way, I wrote and recorded the whole thing, but it’s one of my better vocal performances, so no worries. Give it a listen.

What happened to us?
What happened to me?
What’s done is done is done
The rain may never come
I don’t know what it means

I’ve got pictures in my head
Words that time forgets
A dream that never was
Feelings left unsung
A love left unseen

There’s nothing for you now
Just a pocket full of twisted words
And doubts about the way things were
And a heart full of regrets

There’s nothing for you now
Just a pocket full of empty dreams
And doubts about the way things seem
And a heart that won’t forget
